The Central City KOA is located in the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 8,490 feet, exactly one mile above Black Hawk and Central City.

The campsite is situated for those who want to experience nature, however, still want to be close to the city. It’s nearby casinos, the Denver Zoo, Coors Brewery, Estes Park and Colorado Springs. So, if you have children, you’ll be happy to know that you’re nearby some of the best attractions in Denver.

The campsite itself is fully equipped with everything you need such as full hookups, spacious sites, and free wifi. The tent sites are located under the trees, so you’ll be provided with an ample amount of shade throughout the day.

Each site comes with a BBQ, fire pit and picnic table. At and around the campground, you’ll be able to enjoy an array of activities such as hiking, biking, nature photography and ATVing. Plus, you’re also closely situated by the Roosevelt National Forest and other wild parks to enjoy.

It’s a great campground for people travelling with children who need some entertainment in between family hikes. You’re still close to everything you need without being right in the hustle of city life.

Just east of Denver is the Denver East KOA campground. It’s perfectly located if you’re looking to explore the surrounding area on day trips to Denver, Estes Park, Colorado Springs, and Red Feather Lakes. Plus, the campground is only 50 miles away from the Rocky Mountain base, so, you’re well situated to all the outdoor attractions.

The campgrounds in the Denver area are quite sparse, however, this campground offers everything you need for an amazing trip. The campground accommodates both RV and tents, with complete hookups, fire pit and picnic table for each site. Though the sites are not shaded by trees, they do offer shaded structures instead.

Around the campground, there’s plenty to see and do such as the Denver Zoo, Elitch Gardens, Water World and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

It’s in a great location, however, as a forewarning, since it’s an interstate campground, there may be some more noise in comparison to the other campgrounds which are more tucked into nature.

On the campground, there are activities that both adults and children can enjoy such as the swimming pool, hot tub/sauna and the bike rental services.

Beaver Ranch focuses more on the experience with the mountains, fresh air and natural surroundings than anything else. Both cabins and tents are provided portable toilets and pit toilets which are enclosed in wooden structures as well as a fire pit for each individual site.

The best part of this campground is that it’s truly designed for tenting, rather than RVing. So, you won’t have any RVs driving through the campground as they’re not permitted. This also includes the restriction of 5th wheel trailers, pop-up campers or any vehicle with a sink or toilet. So, like stated, it’s truly a campground for tents.

Of course, you’re also close by Roosevelt National Forest and other lakes and parks in the surrounding area. So, you’re given plenty of places to explore around you.

Denver is the official city of the state of Colorado. It’s called the Mile High City because it’s exactly one mile above sea level, making it the highest major city in the United States.

Though it’s the capital city, it’s very close to surrounding wildlife and national forests, so, if you want a mix of both city and natural life, then this is a perfect balance of both.

There’s plenty to do in Denver as you have an array of cultural landmarks such as the Horace Tabor opera house, Denver Art Museum, Denver Museum of Nature and Science and Molly Brown House.

The campground is near the Colorado University and Poudre Canyon. However, within an hours drive, you’ll be at Estes Park, Boulder, Cheyenne, Laramie, Red Feather Lakes, Denver and Rocky Mountain National Park. So, it’s close enough to enjoy daily outings to various parks and attractions in the area.

The campground itself is designed for both RV and tent use. The RV sites come fully equipped with hookups, sewer, wifi and cable. The tent sites are beautifully shaded and come with a fire pit and a picnic table.
