The Armadillo Farm Campground is a rustic campground set just outside of Fredericksburg, making it ideal for those who do want to be close to town, however, still enjoy the peace and scenery of the Texas nature.

The campground offers both RV and tent camping and supplies full hookups, restrooms and showers for both tenters and RVers. The tenting campsites are primitive, yet clean and offer you great views of the sky for those that love to stargaze.

Around the camp, you have a variety of places to explore. Of course, you have the town of Fredericksburg which is close by, so you’ll be able to check out summer events, museums and restaurants.

However, in terms of nature, you’re close to the Enchanted Rock Area where you’ll be able to hike and rock climb. In addition, there’s also the Lyndon B. Johnson where you’ll be able to hike, rock climb, bike and swim.

This campground is located just outside of Fredericksburg, right in the heart of wine country. The campground is open year-round, so it’s ideal for families, wine touring adults and winter bunnies who can’t get enough of the Texas nature.

Though it’s right in wine country, it doesn’t mean that wine tasting is the only activity in the area. You’ll be able to visit the historical city of Fredericksburg, checking out museums and landmarks but also experience some beautiful nature such as the Enchanted Rock Area and Lyndon B. Johnson State Park.

The campground itself is also full of activities that’ll keep everyone busy. For those staying at the campground, they’ll have access to wifi, a splash pad, swimming pool and hot tub, fitness centre, jumping pillow, basketball court, amphitheatre, and arcade room. So, if you have small children or teenagers, they’ll have plenty to keep them occupied just on the campground itself.

The tenting area is situated in the middle of the campground and is in close proximity to the bathhouse, laundry and restroom facilities. Those that camp are given full access to all the amenities as well.

Last but definitely not least is the Fredericksburg KOA campground. It’s located only a few miles from Fredericksburg and is in a great location for those that enjoy both the city and rural life.

In the town, you’ll be able to see historic museums such as the National Museum of the Pacific War and view some of the historic architecture that makes Fredericksburg what it is today.

There are plenty of festivals in the summer to take part in, thus, you always have something to do. There are the Wildseed Farms and Fredericksburg Trade Days which allow you to experience the flea market and collectables culture in Texas.

In addition, there are an ample amount of wineries to visit – and we haven’t even started talking about nature. The Enchanted Rock Area and Lyndon B. Johnson National Park are close by and allow you to explore the wonders of Texas nature.

On the campground itself, they offer full amenities to their visitors, including a swimming pool which will help you escape the heat and cool off. The campground is dog-friendly and even offers a dog park for people to let their pups stretch their legs and have a run.

Founded in 1846, Fredericksburg is a relatively small town and named after Prince Frederick of Prussia. It’s a well-known town for its wineries and historical artifacts. You’ll be able to visit various wineries and also visit museums such as the Pioneer Museum, the National Museum of the Pacific War, and the Vereins Kirche Museum.

After you’ve had a dose of history, you’ll be able to explore the surrounding area, which has various parks such as the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park, Buchanan Lake and the Enchanted Rock where you’ll be able to hike, camp, bike, rock climb and swim.

The Dos Rios campground is an exceptional campground if you want to spend your camping trip along the riverside. They offer campsites along the river with enough space for three tents to be pitched.

The site offers visitors with a picnic table, fire pit, grill cover, tree coverage and river views. Of course, there are limited riverfront sites, though they do offer other tent sites which are either secluded or on the top lawn. They also offer RV sites with full hookups as well.

The entire campground is designed to provide their visitors with as much natural beauty as possible. Though, this doesn’t mean that the campground lack amenities. In fact, the campground comes fully equipped with restrooms, showers and laundry services.

Other services the park offers are wifi and a pet-friendly atmosphere. Yes, you’re able to bring your pet but they must be well-behaved at the campground.

At Dos Rios, you’ll have beautiful riverfront views while also having other natural areas to explore such as the Enchanted Rock Area, Llano River State Park and Mason Mountain WMA. You’re not as close to the city life, so it’s a great spot to be if you want to get away and immerse yourself in nature.

Another great spot along the Llano River is the North Llano River Campground and River Park. It’s a little closer to the city life, so, if you’re in need of a grocery store, restaurant or gas station – all the amenities are close by in Junction.

In addition, you’re also nearby a couple of different parks such as the Schreiner Park, South Llano River State Park, Mason Mountain WMA and Enchanted Rock Area. So, you’ll be able to quickly get to any of these points and immerse yourself immediately in nature.

On the campground, they offer sites for both RVs and tents. The RV sites are fully equipped with hookups and are nicely spread out for adequate privacy from neighbours.

If you’re choosing to pitch a tent, the sites are close to the river. Most of the tent sites are primitive, however, there are a couple with water and electric hookups if needed.

The sites are all equipped with picnic tables, campfire pits and BBQ grills. The campground offers all visitors restrooms, showers, laundry services, library book exchange, free cable and wifi. So, you’re fully equipped with everything you need in order to have a successful and relaxing camping trip.

Llano River is a tributary of the Colorado River and is around 169 km long, running throughout Central Texas. It’s one of the most iconic rivers in Texas due to its spring-fed water, unique landscape surrounding the river and the Guadalupe Bass habitat.

You can go anywhere along the river, from North to South and find an abundance of fishing areas and campgrounds. It’s ideal if you’re into fishing, swimming, rafting, canoeing, kayaking, and lounging by the riverside.

If you’re looking for a campground nearby Travis Lake, then the Hill Country Lakes RV Campground is a great option. They’re a family-run campground located just off of Lake Travis, Briarcliff and Pace Bend County Park.

Their campground is secluded, providing visitors with an ample amount of privacy and peacefulness. It’s for both RVs and tents, so whatever you prefer, they’re able to cater to you.

The RV sites come fully equipped with full hookups and the sites themselves are largely shaded. The tent sites as well are largely shaded and come with a picnic table, fire pit, and grill.

On the campground, all visitors have full access to the amenities which include showers, restrooms, laundry services and a pavilion. They also offer some games and activities such as books, movies, board games and outdoor games as well.
