This is slightly more rustic than others in the area and is a good chance to get back to basics and really enjoy camping in the outdoors. There is electricity and it sits in both the wooded areas and by the creek so you can wake up to a different view every morning if you like.

There’s a main building with all the wash facilities you need including a laundry room, on top of five cabins which are available to hire.

On the way from the city, heading towards Buffalo and the country border you’ll come across various lakes and nature reserves that are great for a week away from it all.

Visit the ‘Grand Canyon of the East’ here as the area is renowned as one of the most magnificent areas in eastern US, with the Genesee River running down the gorge, creating waterfalls and cliffs as high as 600 feet.

Surround yourself by lush forests, great for biking, snowmobiling in the winter and cross-country skiing. There’s also various trails for hiking and trekking along with guided walks, kayaking, hot air ballooning and swimming – just to name a few!

This camping complex offers everything you could need on site for a great family vacation.

It’s a real family friendly experience and while you are there you can take a dip in the pool, head over to the playground with the kids or enjoy a hike up to the waterfalls – but careful, it gets booked up pretty quickly so make sure that you get in early to make sure you book yourself a prime camping spot.

Just down the road from Letchworth you will find a whole bunch of other state parks which are ready and waiting to explore. Heading down to these areas give you much more wildlife and scenic regions to visit along with a variety of different campgrounds offering different – and more rustic – experiences than others.

So if you are looking to really get back to nature then there’s plenty of places to recommend. There’s plenty of state parks in the area along with museums and restaurants so if you’ve had enough of washing your own pots you can hand that over to someone else for the evening.
